Welcome to EURIDICE

Research into the safety and feasibility of radioactive waste disposal in clay

HADES renovation project - SHAFT 1
In 2020, EIG EURIDICE will be renovating the hoisting system of the first access shaft of HADES.
EIG EURIDICE
EURIDICE is an economic interest grouping between SCK CEN and ONDRAF/NIRAS, the Belgian agency for radioactive waste and enriched fissile materials.
Underground research laboratory
This is where industrial technologies are developed for disposal of radioactive waste in deep clay.
PRACLAY experiment
A large-scale experiment designed to study the effect of heat on a deep clay formation.
Clay core sampling
In order to investigate the behaviour and properties of Boom Clay, EURIDICE technicians perform drillings in the underground research laboratory HADES.
